M-Tronic: fully electronic engine management
Starting up. Working away. Restarting. Always a perfect start.
Irrespective of whether you're just starting work, are already on the job or are re-starting your power tool after a short break in work, M-Tronic technology means you experience its optimised performance, all through the day, as well as day in and day out. The advanced engine management system automatically adjusts the engine's ignition timing in all operating modes, precisely and electronically meters the fuel supply and even accounts for external conditions such as varying temperatures, altitudes and fuel quality. You don't need to do any more to the engine, than fuel it, start-up and squeeze the throttle to go!
The cornerstone of M-Tronic technology is its control unit featuring a microprocessor, electronic temperature recognition and ignition system. The microprocessor represents the "brains" of M-Tronic. All relevant information on the status of the tool feeds into this. The result: an electronically precise supply of fuel – taking operating status and external conditions into account –this means you are guaranteed optimal engine performance. It also saves you time and energy as you no longer have to worry about manual carburettor adjustments.

Combi-lever with stop button function
Because M-Tronic can electronically distinguish between a cold or warm start, there only needs to be one start position on the combi-lever. The exact amount of fuel is always provided. There is also no need for you to be aware of your Chainsaw's operating status, as you can power up to full speed straight away – even from a cold start. After the saw is turned off, the control lever immediately moves back into the operating position. Meaning the tool, once warmed up, can be restarted any time.

No more manual carburettor adjustments
Gone is the time spent adjusting your power tool's carburettor with the M-Tronic system electronically adjusting the fuel/air mix. At the nerve centre of the M-Tronic ‘brain', a multi-functioning controller automatically adjusts the engine's carburettor settings via a network of microprocessors and solenoid valves. The system consistently monitors whether the engine is at start, idle, partial or full load, and also accounts for external conditions, setting the mix to save user adjustments and time.

Optimised performance, day in and day out
Not only does M-Tronic save the user manual adjustments and time, its continual monitoring and adjustment ensures engine performance is optimised every second it's at work. Adapting to external variables including temperature and altitude, it also automatically compensates for ethanol admixtures of up to 25% (E25) in fuel – ensuring reliable, top performance across varying fuel qualities.

Excellent acceleration
Users will appreciate another characteristic of the STIHL M-Tronic engine: its spontaneous acceleration and consistent maximum speed. Those great characteristics are the result of the electronic ignition timing and fuel metering system, and mean you can power on the work immediately - even from a cold start.

Memory function
What makes M-Tronic technology really clever is the memory function that remembers settings from the last time the power tool was used. Settings are saved on an electronic chip and restored when the power tool re-starts its work. That means when external conditions are the same, full engine performance is at your disposal after every new start – saving you time and getting the job done faster.
